Absolute Batman 10 Review: Dragotta’s Gross Art
Nick Dragotta returns to full horror mode. Batman’s suit has booby traps. When guards remove it, needles stab Bruce. The Ark‑M complex looks like a nightmare hospital. Walls have body parts embedded in them. Limbs. Faces.
It’s disturbing. But the art sells the horror perfectly.
Bane Plays Torture Games
Bane keeps Batman for weeks. Maybe months. He runs experiments. Cuts him open. Batman escapes over and over. He gets creative:
- Pulls out his own teeth to use as knuckles.
- Rips feeding tubes from his arm to make whips.
- Sprays a guy in the face with his own stomach acid. Has to be some of the nastiest shit ever.
- Shards of glass from broken monitors.
Every time, Bane just walks in calmly. Grabs him. Drags him back to the table. Bane’s patience is the scariest part. He doesn’t rage.
He just… waits.
Waylon Jones Becomes Killer Croc
Deep in Ark‑M, Bruce finds his missing friend: Waylon Jones. Ark‑M experiments turned Waylon into something monstrous. Green skin. Jaws that don’t fit his face. He’s becoming Killer Croc.
They team up. Punch through guards. Try to escape together. But Bane is always one step ahead. He’s waiting at every exit.
The Outside World
While Bruce suffers, his team searches. Martha Wayne leads the effort. Young Officer Gordon helps.
They don’t know Bruce is naked and broken underground. The tension works because we see both sides.
Verdict: The Grossest Issue Yet
Absolute Batman #10 is peak body horror. Batman hits bottom. Bane proves he’s the real monster.
Don’t read this if needles and surgery scenes bother you. Do read it if you want to see Batman earn every win.
